Surviving the Beach with Kids

Beach with Kids
There are lots of fun things to do at the beach with kids. Once you have sorted yourself and bought your great looking mens swim trunks, it’s time to start planning that perfect day. Here are some tips for to make the most of your trip to the beach.

1. Choose a beach that is kid friendly

Australia is blessed with many picture-perfect beaches, some of which are easily accessible while others are hidden and tucked away. If you're going to bring the kids along with you, save the trip to hidden beaches for when you're going out with your mates. To ensure the safety of your children, choose a beach that is kid friendly. Pick one that is patrolled by lifeguards so you can be sure that someone else is also looking out for your children. Also, the place should offer a good distance between the shore and the parking area to minimise the need to walk far. And more importantly, see to it that the beach has the appropriate levels of surf or waves. You certainly don't want your kids swimming in waters with huge waves as it could place their safety at risk.

2. Be sun safe at the beach with kids

To avoid those painful sunburns and reduce the risk of skin cancer, ensure that both you and your kids wear appropriate beach clothing. Let your kids wear clothes that can protect them from the sun such as swim shirts and hats. Also, make sure that they apply sunscreen with the recommended SPF levels and don't forget to tell them to re-apply sunscreen once every three hours. This will help ensure that the kids will have continuous protection from the sun since going in and out of the water could wash away the sunscreen they have applied earlier.

3. Plan some fun activities

Swimming can only do so much to keep your kids occupied. To keep your children busy, plan some activities you think they will enjoy beforehand. For instance, you can bring a spade and bucket so they can make fancy sandcastles. A beach ball or a body board can make the day better and more interesting, too. Stock up on beach toys and ideas for fun activities prior to your trip and your kids will surely thank you for it.

4. Spend some quality time with your kids

Take this opportunity to bond with your kids by playing with them, especially if you're always busy with work. Chase them around, have fun in the water, build sandcastles—do anything that will let you spend more quality time with your brood. Don't be embarrassed to get down and dirty and bring out the kid in you. More importantly, make this day about your children by keeping your cell phone away.

Enjoy the Sun, Sea, and Water!

Your children will be kids only once, so to take pleasure in every moment you spend with them. Make sure to follow the pointers discussed above to have a fun and memorable day at the beach with your kids.
