The Ultimate Beach Bucket List

The Ultimate Beach Bucket List-Bondi Joe Swimwear

Calling all beach fans! If you love beaches and you love to travel, it's time you start a beach bucket list! There are hundreds of reports, surveys, general lists, and blogs that list the world's best beaches annually. Some beaches make the lists year over year because they're just that incredible! We compiled our own list of some of our favorite beaches from around the globe. We aren't ranking these beaches in any particular order because we think they all have unique experiences to offer!

Bondi Beach, Australia

Let's start in Bondi Joe's own backyard oasis, Bondi Beach! Bondi Beach is consistently ranked as one of the most popular beaches. Huge waves make it the perfect destination for surfers, and an incredible array of shops and eateries make it a favorite amongst residents and tourists alike. Bondi Beach is known for its edgy and alternative vibe that makes it feel exciting and modern. You can get to Bondi Beach by bus or train. Driving is not recommended because there is limited parking and thousands of visitors! Bondi Beach may be popular, but you don't have to worry too much about finding a spot; it is busy but not overly crowded most of the time. Once a year, regional and international artists can display their work along Bondi Beach in the Sculpture By the Sea display. There truly is something for everyone on or around Bondi Beach, so be sure to add it to your beach bucket list!

Baia do Sancho, Brazil

Next on our list is Baia do Sancho in Brazil! This spectacular beach is located on the small island of Fernando de Noronha and has been ranked highly on TripAdvisor and other travel sites for years! Some people are deterred by the admission fee that you have to pay, but it's important to understand the context. Baia do Sancho is part of a national park that comprises around 70% of the island! The admission fee gives you ten days of access to the entire national park. The profits go right back into conserving the land and keeping the park pristine. Baia do Sancho is well worth the fee, even if you don't explore the rest of the park! The shoreline is absolutely stunning and is definitely photo-worthy. People tend to have mixed emotions about the beach until they step foot on the sand. There's a long walk to get to the water. Baia do Sancho is set below the level of the park, so you'll have to hike down several flights of stairs, across constructed walkways along the rocky cliff, and even down some steep ladders. While the journey is not suitable for everyone, it's certainly worth the effort. One more note; visitors are not allowed on the beach from 6 PM to 6 AM from January to July because it's a spawning site for endangered turtles! If you're lucky, you might get to see them making their journey from the sand to the sea!

Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue Island

Anse Source d'Argent is consistently called the most beautiful beach in the world. Browse through just a few images and you'll understand why! Located on La Digue Island in the Indian Ocean, Anse Source d'Argent is tropical, homey, understated, and classy. On this beach, you'll find pink sand and towering granite boulders. Waters are calm and shallow making it a relaxing place to sunbathe. You may recognize this picturesque beach from commercials for Bacardi Rum, Campari, and Bounty Chocolate. Perhaps you've seen it in Cast Away with Tom Hanks! When it isn't being used for movies, television, or professional photos, it's a hugely popular beach because it's teeming with tropical fish and turtles! This is definitely a must-have on your beach bucket list!

Honokalani Beach, Maui

Lastly, we felt our list wouldn't be complete without Honokalani Beach. This world-famous beach is located in Waianapanapa State Park and is known for its black sand. The sand is black because of the slow cooling of lava centuries ago. You can see more examples of past volcanic activity in the lava cliffs and tubes found on the outer edges of the shoreline. There are sea caves to explore and some hidden inner rooms. Swimming is not advised at Honokalani because the waves are strong and the terrain below the water is harsh and dangerous. Other features of Honokalani include Hawaii's largest known heiau (temple), massive stone arches, and naturally-formed blowholes! You can't experience a black sand beach complete with lava rock formations just anywhere, so be sure to visit Honokalani Beach!

We hope you've found at least one new beach to add to your ultimate beach bucket list. It was extremely challenging to narrow down our choices. If you want a comprehensive bucket list, we highly recommend visiting tourism websites such as TripAdvisor, finding annual rankings, and reading blogs about first-hand experiences. Australia is home to some of the best beaches in the world, so when in doubt, visit us! Bondi Joe Swimwear is designed by beach lovers for beach lovers.
